Abstract
Linear conjugated small molecules and polymers are widely used in organic optoelectronics as hole semiconductors and luminophores. Among them, fluorene-containing materials were previously extensively used in organic light-emitting diodes, transistors and solar cells. However, their functionalized counterparts - diazafluorenes have been poorly explored though their nitrogen atoms enhance electron affinity and may improve electron transport. Moreover, 4,5-diazafluorene-containing materials are promising for sensorics because of the N-coordination and protonation opportunities. Here, we discuss design, synthesis and functional properties of a series of both 4,5-and 1,8-diazafluorene-derivatives containing different donor/acceptor groups.
